Photo: tech cleaning an ice machine evaporatorIce is food. The health department treats it that way, and a slimy ice machine is one of the most common write-ups in a Valley inspection. Phoenix's hard water makes it worse, scaling up the machine and cutting its output.
We take the machine apart as far as the manufacturer allows, descale every water-contact surface, sanitize, clean the condenser, and put it back together. You get a dated service report for your health inspection file.
What's included
- Ice bin emptied and sanitized
- Evaporator plate and water system descaled
- Water distribution tube, pump, and trough cleaned
- Condenser coil cleaned (keeps the machine from overheating in summer)
- Water filter checked, replaced on request
- Dated service report and photos
How often should an ice machine be cleaned?
Most manufacturers call for a full clean every 6 months, and the health code requires you to follow the manufacturer's schedule. In Phoenix, with hard water and 110 degree summers, many kitchens go quarterly to keep output up and avoid breakdowns in August.
We'll look at your machine and your water and recommend a schedule. Then we set the reminders so you don't have to.
